Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and I thought it would be a fun way to wrap up the year on the transracial adoption blog by highlighting my twelve favorite posts from 2007. Transracial Adoption - Transracial adoption, in a nutshell, is when parents of one race adopt a child of a different race. These adoptions are also usually transcultural, meaning the family adopts a child from a different culture. While it is simple to define, it is far from a simple concept or topic.

You may (or may not) have noticed that I have been doing some technical housekeeping around this blog. I have been adding and deleting categories, creating sub categories and moving posts around in an attempt to make information and specific posts somewhat easier to find on here.

I have broken down the "Big Issues" category into subcategories of "Being a Transracial Family", "Ethical Issues", "General Adoption Issues", "Health Issues", "Racial Issues" and "The Media."

What’s in store for 2007 on the transracial adopt blog?

I plan to continue to share and discuss articles related to racial issues and transracial adoption in the media. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised how much attention these topics got in the media in 2006…even when what was being said wasn’t totally encouraging, I think it is always a good thing to call attention to these topics and getting people to talk about them.

I will also continue with general adoption advice and tackling the big issues related to transracial adoption. I plan on revamping the “categories”, to help make it easier to find information you may be searching for.

I originally posted this yesterday, but wanted to let you know that they have found bloggers for the LDS Adoption blog and the Haiti Adoption blog, (and a new Africa Adoption blog which wasn't on the list yesterday) and are also now looking for bloggers for the Adopting a Sibling Blog and US Infant Adoption Blog

They also will likely be looking for a Vietnam Adoption blogger here soon (but it will be for the new process, new rules, etc.)

I would like to point out to you fine people that this week I wrote two long, detailed, informative, heart felt posts on racial identity in our transracially adopted children and got ONE comment (thank you MP!!!).

This week I also wrote about getting snowed on for hours in September….nada in the comment department.

And this week I also wrote one post about my horribly disfigured foot, and got 11 comments (one of which asked for MORE PHOTOS OF MY INJURY). Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :D
