Wednesday Funnies- Pictures=Kids???

Time for a Wednesday funny.

I often comment that, "Everyone is a comedian around here." It's true...all of my kids love to be funny, and are pretty dang good at it. And yet sometimes they say or do the funniest things when they are not even trying.

Let's take last weekend for an example...

I had pulled out my camera to take some pictures of the kids. I have a new personal blog that lets me upload lots and lots of pictures and I noticed that I didn't have very many new ones of my bigger kids (although I have oodles of the kids... more

Wednesday Funnies- Driving lessons from Africa

Hey all... I hope I didn't lose anybody in all of that story retelling...it was a lot to read, I know! It was fun to remember it all though, and to reflect on how far we have come in one short year.

Anyway, I have lots to blog about in the world of transracial adoptions, but since it is Wednesday, I thought I would share a Ben "Wednesday funny" and I promise I will be "back to business" tomorrow.

I have shared on here lots of times that Ben had an amazingly easy adjustment to our home, family and life in American in general. There weren't too many things that seemed to really throw him for a loop in the beginning...he is just a very "go with the flow" little guy.

But... more

Wednesday Funnies- Parenting Test

Here is something to lighten the mood from the "heavier" posts. A Wednesday funny...

This is one of those emails that has been around lots of times and you have probably already seen, (I have gotten it quite a few times) but it is one I always read and always laugh at.

HOW TO KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE READY TO HAVE CHILDREN

MESS TEST Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Place a fish stick behind the couch and leave it there all summer.

TOY TEST Obtain a 55-gallon box of LEGOs (or you may substitute roofing tacks). Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen.... more

Wednesday funny- Early communication

I just got done cutting Maggie’s bangs…Maggie has the straightest, thickest hair you can imagine, and it grows like weeds! All of the hair in the front of her head grows straight forward into her face and it is super thick, so bangs are the only logical hair style for her at this point (we’ve tried growing them out and they are always in her face).

Amanda on the other hand has a natural part, so she has grown out her bangs. It’s kind of nice for the girls to have something different about their look.

Anyway, it was from trimming Maggie’s bangs this morning that I got my inspiration for today’s Wednesday funny.

I cut all of my kids’ hair myself (well, I have never cut... more

Wednesday funny- the Vietnamese Princess

Ok, as promised, a Wednesday funny.

For quite a while now, Josh has taken to calling the little girls his “princesses”. (My girls are obsessed with princess anything, which is how it started). He calls Maggie his “princess from Vietnam” and he calls Amana his “princess from Korea”, and since Belane has been home, she has been dubbed Daddy’s “princess from Ethiopia.”

The girls love it and it really sticks…if I say to Belane, “Come here princess,” she’ll counter with, “from Ethiopia” every time. It’s adorable.

But this funny is... more

Some Wednesday Funnies

Ok, and since it is still Wednesday, (it has been a very long day…kind of hard to believe it is still Wednesday…but I digress…) I have a few funnies for you.

Ryan is 8 ½ years old. He is our second biological child…third in the age line-up. He is extremely smart, very sensitive, busy busy and outrageously funny. He is the one that causes us to cringe when someone starts off a conversation with, “Do you know what your son said today?” He doesn’t even do it on purpose…he doesn’t even try.

He speaks, and people laugh.

These last few days we have had several funny Ryan moments.

The first, which I don’t have any explanation for but has had me giggling all day, is... more

Wednesday Funny

Categories: Family Life, Wednesday Funnies

Ok, this this week's funny really doesn't have anything to do with adoption, but it definitely has something to do with parenting, and I think it's pretty dang funny!

I have one brother and one sister. When we were young and my parents were still together, we often spent Saturdays or Sundays at my granparents' house (my Dad's parents). When I was about eight years old or so, (and my sister was six and my brother was four) my brother went through a phase where he would just eat himself sick every time we went to my grandparents' house.

My... more

Wednesday Funnies- The stubborn soccer player

Poor Ben.

I am not sure if today’s Wednesday funny is a “ha ha” funny…but I think it qualifies. (And all of you who love Ben stories should enjoy it).

I have said it before and I will say it again. Ben is SMART. Not just normal kid smart…really smart. He remembers everything…he picked up English ridiculously fast (after being home for 7 months he understands probably 98% of what we say, and he speaks almost as well as any other kid in the house). He is a whiz at math and is getting better at reading by the minute (and is already... more

Wednesday Funnies- Home Made Dinners

Here is a quick Wednesday funny (that is, actually, on Wednesday!).

But first, a confession.

I am not a great cook. I don’t whip up lots of fantastic recipes that guests swoon over. I do not enjoy spending lots of time chopping, slicing, dicing, basting, simmering, reducing, etc. etc. etc.

When it comes to cooking, my plan of attack is to make something nutritious, which is also fast, easy and kid-appealing.

I was raised by a single Dad, and with raising three kids, taking care of our home and running his own business,... more

Another late funny

Yesterday was one of those crazy busy days and I was having trouble thinking of something funny, and then something funny happened. So forgive me for another “Wednesday funny” on Thursday.

This week and next week our Wednesdays are very busy. I try hard not to over-schedule our kids, and typically keep their after school activities to Tae Kwon Do and girl scouts/boy scouts. But we started soccer in the summer (which we have really, really enjoyed), and that overlaps two weeks with the beginning of Tae Kwon Do… hence the two busy weeks.

So yesterday, the bigger kids took the school bus right to Tae Kwon Do for their class, I picked them up and we drove out to the soccer field,... more
