I have not done a "quote post" in a while, and today I stumbled across one that really goes hand in hand with the posts I wrote earlier this week on how we can make the world's children a priority, and on how the children left behind weigh heavily on my heart.
"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little."- Edmund Burke (12 January 1729 – 9 July 1797)

I have not done a quote for while, so here is one for my “Words to Live By” category.
"How can there be too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers." If you’re not familiar with it, this wonderful quote was said by Mother Teresa. I love this quote, and I really like the message it sends. It appropriately pops up on quite a few of adoption-related websites.
Ok, so I do understand that there probably is such a thing as too many children, at least in one family, and I do understand that flowers do not need things like diapers, shoes, school supplies,... more
I am admittedly a “mush”. I have been called soft-hearted and a sap. I’m ok with that. I am big on love and happy endings. So in the spirit of my mushy-ness, here are some of my favorite quotes on love. Not so much the love between a man and a woman, but family type love, and love thy neighbor type love.
Here is a quote on “The Essence of Life” that I am very fond of. It is a quote from Gordon B. Hinckley, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“Love is the very essence of life. It is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Yet it is more... more
I know that I am not a superhero. I know that I can’t “adopt them all” and I know that I can’t “change the world”. Some days I feel like I need that tattooed on my fore head. If I had a dollar for every time someone has told me “You can’t save the world,” I wouldn’t have near as much adoption debt.
My quote today is by Gandhi. Gandhi has been quoted as saying, “Practically anything you do will be insignificant, but it is important that you do it.” I love that a man who did so much good in his life, was humble enough to make a statement like that. Although his accomplishments... more
Well, here we are! Here is our first family picture since we got Benjamin home from Ethiopia in February. My family from New York is staying with us this week and they volunteered to snap some pictures of all of us while we were dressed up for Easter Sunday. Getting a good picture of all of us is darn near impossible, but every once and a while we get lucky :) ![]()
So, since the house is busy with the “post-Easter sugar buzz” and having company, I thought I would share a quote again for today’s post. Here is one from the French novelist Marcel Proust that I really like.
"Let us... more
As I said in this post, I really like quotes. I have a few favorites, and when I need a bit of inspiration, I read through my quotes and they are just really uplifting. I have quotes from movies, quotes from books and quotes from famous people…I think I like them because they are a whole lot of wisdom jam-packed into one or two little sentences.
Anyway, my “quote of the day” is from the author/ poet, Robert Frost.
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I...I took the one less traveled by, and... more
I love quotes. There is something about a good quote from someone respected (and sometimes even from someone unknown) that is just really, really inspiring. I am a bit of a collector of quotes. I have some hanging around my house, I have a bunch saved on my computer and I have even been known to copy some down out of books and off of movies. You never know where you are going to hear a great quote.
My absolute favorite of all times is, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world,” said by Mahatma Gandhi. If you have read my bio you have already seen this, and I put it on there because if I had to pick a quote that sums up my life, I would like this one to be it. ... more
