A comedy of errors...part one

As you read this (if it’s Thursday or Friday) I am in Salt Lake with my kids…taking Belane and Marcus to doctor appointments, and enjoying some quality family time with all of us together…we will be going to a dinosaur museum and the zoo, and Josh will be taking the big kids to a movie while I am doing doctor appointments. We will eat out, which is a treat, and just have a fun two days.

We have two hotel rooms (got $40 a room at a La Quinta on Hotwire…woo hoo! La Quinta is one of our favorite family places to stay).

We’ll be back in the late afternoon on Friday, and I will work on some more of the questions and answers this weekend…there are a few great ones out there that I am looking forward to writing about. (And I have some new pics to share).

But for today, I thought I would share with you my “Comedy of Errors”, which was my Tuesday.
We have one real photographer here where we live. She is excellent. She is expensive. We have never “bit the bullet” and had our family pics done by her…mostly because I have always known that we weren’t “done”, and I didn’t want to fork out a ton of money on family pics that would need to be replaced quickly.

But I knew once Belane was here that I would really want a new family picture. So when I got the flyer that said that our school district’s PTO was sponsoring the photographer, H., to come in and do family portrait nights this week, with NO sitting fees (she takes pictures, you look at proofs and then order what you want!) I jumped right on it and made an appointment. (Last year all of the appointments filled up in just a few hours).
Of course the next big question was the “what to wear” for everybody…I wanted us to look coordinated, but should everyone match? Should it be Christmasy? Should it be dressy? Should it be causal??

I decided to make life easy on myself and to avoid digging through closets, holding up two different red sweaters to see if they were the same shade or if one was just a little too orangey… and after getting an email about fleece pullovers being on sale at Old Navy ($9.50 for the kids!) I ordered everyone a new fleece in bright colors, and then planned on putting everyone in jeans and white socks. Easy! And cute, right?
