Quite a few people asked for more “day to day” type posts, and posts on how things “work” around here, so I thought it would be fun to give you a “Day in the Life” in our house…here is how my day played out today. (It was a pretty typical day, although Thursday is our busiest “activity day” for the kids).
6:05 am- alarm went off
6:07am- got out of bed, freshened up, popped in contacts
6:15am- checked email (no news on waiver)
6:20am- headed downstairs and folded a load of laundry, moved wet clothes into dryer and started another load (it’s a constant).
6:35am- Woke up Mercy, Des, Shane and Ben (Nathan and Ryan wake up automatically…they are like roosters!)
6:45am- Served breakfast to kids going to school (We are a cereal, milk and fruit family on busy mornings)
6:48am- Marcus got up way too early and crashed breakfast…made everyone laugh with his antics.
7am- straightened up kitchen while kids got washed and dressed
7:10am-got all the kids backpacks ready for the day
7:15am- Maggie stumbled up the stairs, and laid down to watch Dora and Diego with Marcus
7:20am-I went out on the deck and cleaned up all the garbage some nasty creature got into.
7:33am- Kissed the six “big” kids goodbye and watched in the window with Marcus as they got on the bus. Marcus cried. (For explanation you can read
this.)
7:45am-Checked blog and did a little online reading
7:50am-Amanda stumbled up the stairs, said good morning and laid down with Maggie and Marcus (Amanda wakes up Sloooooooooooowly)
8am- Served breakfast to Maggie and Amanda
8:20am- Helped Maggie and Amanda choose clothes, pulled out clothes for Marcus
8:30am-Got Marcus changed and dressed and changed g-tube dressing
8:45am-Played a game of chase with the little kids
9am-Folded, moved and started more laundry…with three little helpers. Marcus calls out the name of the owner of every article of clothing as it comes out of the dryer and then claps. Who says laundry is boring??
9:30am- Finally got in the shower, while little kids watched Little Einsteins
10:15am- Played with paper, crayons, scissors and stickers with the little kids.
11am- Started cleaning up and preparing lunch. Tuesdays and Thursdays we have to do lunch early because Maggie and Amanda have to be fed and at preschool by noon.
11:15am-Kids ate Tuna fish sandwhich, grapes, string cheese and Goldfish crackers and drank water. (well, the girls did. Marcus ate two grapes and two Goldfish).
To be continued...
