Last night was A LOT of fun. Thanks to some family of ours, who drove a whole heap of Ethiopian food up to us from a fantastic little Ethiopian restaurant that is seven hours away, we had the most wonderful meal…and the most wonderful time watching Belane and

Benjamin go NUTS!
Our brother and his girlfriend found a fantastic little Ethiopia restaurant down near where they live, and when they told the Ethiopian family that runs it about our family and our kids from Ethiopia, they were very excited. We were called and asked what our favorite dishes were and what dishes the kids would like, and then it was all prepared and packaged up fresh, then frozen and sent (in coolers) on up to us.
We got two huge containers of doro wat and shiro wat, and more injera than I have ever seen! They also included a little card and a bag of Ethiopian hard candy for the kids. I have already emailed and thanked them extensively (and told them how wonderful the food was!) and included pictures of the kids enjoying it.
As soon as the food started to heat up last night, Ben and Belane started circling the kitchen. I ripped off a piece of injera and dipped it into the doro wat and gave it to Belane, and her eyes just lit up like you wouldn’t believe. She wanted more, more, more!
Then Benjamin came in and asked what we were making. I gave him a piece of injera with the doro wat on it, and he started jumping up and down!!! He said, “Yes, I eat this in Ethiopia!” and we said, “We know! That is why we got it!” We didn’t really think that he would be overly excited about it, but boy oh boy, were we wrong.
Then Ben said, “Sometimes there is meat and eggs in this one.” And I said, “Yes, there is chicken and eggs in it.” And Josh used a big spoon to stir up some of the chicken and eggs. And Ben shouted, “THIS IS THE RIGHT ONE!!!!” It was so hilarious and so sweet.
Then we had him taste the shiro wat and he loved that too (Belane also loved that one).
