There are just 21 "shopping days" left until Christmas, and if you are still looking for some gift ideas for the more "difficult" people on your list, I have some suggestions!
I know that many transracial adoptive families feel the need and the pull to give back in some way to those less fortunate. Adoptive families are often very aware of issues like poverty, illness, famine and other tragedies that create orphans and are also usually very aware of just how many children there are waiting for a family of their own this (and every) holiday season.
I have been offering gift ideas that "give back" or help either orphans or families in crisis, in some way. (You can see the rest of my "gift ideas with meaning" below).
In this post, my gift idea is the
Brittany's Hope Foundation. Brittany's Hope is a non-profit 501(c)3 foundation that is dedicated to finding homes for special needs orphans all over the world. The organization advocates for waiting special needs children and raises money to assist with the adoption costs of special needs children. Brittany's Hope is not an adoption agency, however they work with multiple adoption agencies placing special needs children for international adoption. One hundred percent of all donations received are used towards financial grants for special needs children or to benefit one of Brittany's Hope's humanitarian projects.
Along with advocating for and raising money for special needs children, Brittany's Hope also sponsors humanitarian projects that benefit the children who are left behind, such as arranging for surgeries, providing safe cribs and formula, and providing education and transitional housing for older orphans.
Brittany's Hope has an entire page of
Holiday Gift Ideas, including child sponsorships, participating in the nutrition program and providing a safe crib to a child in an orphanage.
You can give a gift to Brittany's Hope in honor of friends, relatives, employees or anyone else and they will receive a holiday announcement about your gift.
This is a wonderful organization doing wonderful things for some of the world's most vulnerable children.
And if you are considering adopting a special needs child, be sure to visit their
Waiting Children page, where there are many children wishing and waiting for a family to call their own this holiday season.
