Great Books for Transracial Adoptive Families

Transracial adoptive parents are often looking for great books, dolls, toys, music and art to add to their families' collections.

Today I have a recommendation for two books that I have really been enjoying with my kids.

The first book is called "Children Just Like Me - A unique celebration of children around the world". It was written and photographed by Barnabas and Anabel Kindersley, and was produced in association with UNICEF.

The book is big, and filled with gorgeous photographs. The book features children from all over the world, and shows what their families are like, what clothes they wear, what their homes are like, where they go to school, what they eat, what they play with, what their language looks like and what things they like to do. There are many pictures for each child and quotes from the children as well.

The author and photographer visited 31 countries to make "Children Just Like Me", and spent almost an entire year visiting children, their homes and their families.

There are children from the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, Southeast Asia and Australia, and my kids love to look up the kids from Vietnam, South Korea, Ethiopia and the United States.

The book is beautiful to look at, and it has the wonderful message that children all over the world are different, and yet many things about them are the same.

At the end of the book there is also the travel diary of Barnabas and Anabel Kindersley, with lots of interesting and heart-warming details of their journeys.

The second book goes hand in hand with the first book and is titled "Children Just Like Me - Celebrations!" This book was written and photographed by Barnabas and Anabel Kindersley as well, and it highlights festivals, carnivals, feast days and holidays of all sorts from all over the world, and features children celebrating.

There is a section on birthdays, spring holidays, summer holidays, fall holidays and winter holidays, and once again the book is filled with gorgeous photos and quotes from kids around the world.

My kids love this book. They love to read about holidays that other kids celebrate, and learn about the traditions and foods of others, and they also love to find the holidays that we celebrate in there. There are celebrations from all parts of the world, and the book is very educational, as well as beautiful and fun.

These two books would be a great addition to your family library. All of my kids love them. The little kids love to just look at the pictures, and the big kids love to read all of the information (over and over). My children who were adopted internationally love to find the pages on the countries they are from and show them to the rest of us.

The "Children Just Like Me" books are a really fun way to learn about and celebrate many different cultures.
