Home Sweet Home

I wanted to put up a quick post tonight to say that we got home as scheduled, and things are going really well.

I am absolutely exhausted…I am not sure if it is because the trip was so long, or because it was so stressful or what, but I am really, truly wiped out in a way I don’t ever remember being before. I am dizzy and don’t have an appetite and am SO dang tired… so the real “write-up” of our homecoming is going to have to wait another day or two.

But, in a nutshell…the trip was long and grueling (as expected). Belane did really, really well. We just barely made one of the connections, but got home as scheduled to a very excited waiting family. The documentary ladies were there too (I am sure I did NOT look lovely).

Belane is settling in well here at home and is such a joy. I am sure it is because I had her with me for so long in Addis, but these last two days of having her here has just felt so normal.

It is amazing beyond words to be back home and with Josh and ALL of my kids. I did come home to a clean house and happy kids.

I am exhausted, but really, really happy.

So, I am going to go to bed while I can, and will post lots of details tomorrow. Thanks again so much to all of you…your support really helped carry me through the last few weeks.

I promise I will post more tomorrow... I want to get it all written down before I start losing the little details of our journey home and first few days together as a family. I have lots to tell and lots of pictures.

Good night!

Erin-

I'm happy to hear that all is going so well. I can't wait to hear all of the details when you get around to it. Sleep well. You'll certainly need it, right? :)

Hooray!!! Get a parasite test if there is nausea and tummy discomfort with your exhaustion, even if it is just a little. I'm pretty sure I had giardia after my first Ethiopia trip, compliments of my daughter, who also had it. I was 'off' for a month -- lost 10 lbs and was constantly slightly nauseaus--before I got over it and felt better-- nothing serious, just borderline yechy. Not fun.

Hugs

Glad you made all your flights and that you are all home where you can just sleep and get healthy!!

Does Ben speak Ahmaric with Belane? How lucky all your kids are to have each other....
