Musings on what readers REALLY want...

I would like to point out to you fine people that this week I wrote two long, detailed, informative, heart felt posts on racial identity in our transracially adopted children and got ONE comment (thank you MP!!!).

This week I also wrote about getting snowed on for hours in September….nada in the comment department.

And this week I also wrote one post about my horribly disfigured foot, and got 11 comments (one of which asked for MORE PHOTOS OF MY INJURY). Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :D

So you like self-inflicted injuries... Interesting!

Since I am not devoted enough to this blog to continue to hurt myself for your reading pleasure...is there anything ELSE (that preferably doesn't involve pain) that you would like to see me write about?

I do plan on continuing with my "Transracial Adoption Options" (I need to get on with South America, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean now) as well as some of the other categories I started. I will of course continue to keep you updated on Belane's adoption. I have several big topics I plan on tackling as well... but if there is something specific you would like me to write about, ask away. Leave a comment below or email me at transracialadoptblog@adoptionblogs.com

But no more feet pictures. I mean it. :)

I'm guilty.. i'm one of the readers that always reads your blog but doesn't put comments.....

So I will try to post comments more often....

I really think all your posts are great !! Thanks again for writting them.

My favorite topic is of course is your current adoption ( I am also in the process of adopting from Ethiopia) but we would also love to have a large family and I really enjoy when you speak of how daily life is with 9 children (soon to be 10). If you have any tips of organizing, making meals, routines that are very useful and things like that I would love to read more about that :)

You are doing a great job, I don't know where you find the time but keep it up, my favorite blog to follow is definetly yours !

I am out here too, I enjoy reading about the different ways to bring the childs culture into one's family and am also excited to hear all the updates on your little girl. I hope you can bring her home soon.

Hi Erin. I just wanted to let you know, along with these other comment-leavers, that I too read every post. I rarely leave comments in the blogs I read because I usually don't get any responses when I pose questions or leave other comments where a response would be appropriate. Maybe I'll start commenting again and see if anyone engages in what I say. :) I know you are especially busy so I can't fault you for not responding to comments or e-mails. Thanks for all your insight and advice in your posts.

Hi again. I thought of something that might be nice to read about. I know you are in the middle of Belane's adoption, so the bulk of what you write will focus on international adoptions (with Ethiopia being a strong focus), but it may be interesting to read nore about the domestic adoption process, including the domestic homestudy, adoption process overview, what it was like for you and your family, meeting visits before bringing the children home, advice specific to raising domestically adopted children or specific to their adoptions/adjustments, etc... Any transracial issues that seem particular to your domestically adopted children or for domestically adopted children in general? Anything you want to share about that would be much appreciated.

Thanks ladies, for coming out of lurkdom!! I do try to anser all questions posted in my comments, and will try harder to answer all comments.

I do really appreciate the feedback.

Caringforkids...I did quite a few posts awhile back about our domestic adoptions and some on generic domestic adoptions...I will email you those links, and will work on some more posts on domestic adoptions for the near future. :)

I do get quite a few requests for "how do you do it" type day to day posts, so I will do more of those. They seem on teh boring side to me, but everyone else seems to enjoy hearing about my laundry, dishes and cooking. ;)

Thanks again!!!

Erin,

I used to leave comments on your old blog; sorry I didn't continue.

What to write about - I must confess that I really liked your foot entry, becuase I (sadly) could relate to it. I like hearing about your days - the simple stuff like how you get laundry done, how you manage dinner. Etc. We only have two kids now, but we hope to keep growing our family. It makes me think that I'm really not crazy to hear you talk so easily about having ten kids! Sorry it's boring for you! I also enjoy hearing about the adjustments that your kids have made as they have bonded to you and encountered milestones in their lives. Again, it's reassuring to me!

Thanks for writing - I do read and really appreciate the informative stuff. You do a great job!

Blessings!

Thanks Jen!

I didn't mean to say that the day to day stuff is boring for me, I guess it's more that I thought it would be boring to others.

Thanks for reading and for the comment. The feedback is really nice. :)

I think the foot entry got comments because it is just so shocking it can't be ignored!

My favorite posts are about Belen's adoption. I would also like to hear more about Ben's adjustment and activities, since I followed his adoption too, starting way back when you had a personal blog.

I do read everything you write. Keep up the good work. And no, of course we (or at least I) do NOT want foot photo updates!

Seriously, I think the (maybe more academic-type?) information you posted about being a transracial family was VERY interesting. But I think the information takes a bit more time to digest than a presentation of a self-inflicted injury, so that may be why you received fewer comments.

However, I LOVE that information. Maybe it's just because I'm relatively new to the adoption world (my oldest is just three, and our entire adoption process took three months, from start to finish), but I feel like it's exactly the sort of stuff I need to be reading. Yes, it's true. I need to pick up the books you recommend - but as a mom who works outside the home, it's nice to get a Cliffs Notes sort of version...so that I'm not completely in the dark about what's out there.

So, thank you.

I, too, read or at least skim just about every post. The "meaty" posts just don't seem to need a response, though. LOL I appreciate you doing this blog & plan to note the link to share this week. I've been asked to speak on a panel as a transracial adoptive parent for local adoption staff.

Erin,I read and love you blog. The reason you probably do not get so many comments is because of needing to register to make comments Here on the site. And you have to subscribe to adoption e zine or what ever or it will not let you login. Not crazy about this site but do love your blog.

Hi Erin,
I love reading your articles! One of your recent posts prompted me to think of trying something new w/ our daughter when she tantrums prior to meals (they can't be served quick enough for her liking!). Anyway, can you please write more about how you use Love and Logic (or whatever methods you ascribe to) in your every day life? Please give examples. Keep it up. As I've said before, you are a real inspiration to me. I read your articles as an end of the week wind down "treat".
