Ok, let’s see…some of the “other” type of stuff.
The documentary…that all went really well. They followed us home on Saturday, and were staying at a hotel just up the road.
They left us alone on Sunday, and then came over on Monday evening to tape our family night. I did not have time to plan anything much, so we decided to just play some games and talk about family. We played duck, duck, goose, Simon Says and “I’m going on a Picnic” (instead of just saying what we’re going to bring on the picnic, going in alphabetical order, the kids have to run and find something that starts with each letter). Belane was really tired and nervous of the ladies filming, but at the end of the night she really woke up and warmed up and was really cute.
If you’ve met the rest of my kids, you’ll know it is an understatement to say that they are hams.
At one point, Nate looked at the camera and said, “I know I am funnier than Josh”. Too funny! (That is from Last Comic Standing, which my kids have only seen on commercials!)
They taped Belane kissing all of the kids good night and helping me tuck everybody in, and got a quick shot of her in her bed, since they filmed her in her “bed” at AHOPE when they were there in the summer.
Then they came back on Tuesday when the kids were at school and Marcus and Belane were sleeping and interviewed Josh and I. I think it went pretty well…we talked about adoption, international adoption, HIV and HIV adoption, our family, etc.
We found out that they have already pitched the documentary idea to Harpo, Oprah’s company. One of the ladies has a contact there, and they are hopeful that something will come of that. Wow! That is a lot “bigger” than I thought this would be. It’s awesome.
If nothing comes from Harpo, they are also prepared to pitch it to someone at HBO. I will let you know as we know more. It is really exciting that this much attention is going to be drawn to these kids. My biggest wish is that more families will become educated on HIV and consider adopting these wonderful children.
