Ok, more blathering...
Anyway, back to the girls’ room project…this week along with the rest of my compulsive cleaning, I cleaned out all of the construction/painting supplies and put it all away in the garage, cleaned up the rooms, moved furniture around, helped Mercades move her clothes and “stuff” into her new room, hung the wallpaper border, moved all of Belane’s clothes and “stuff” (she doesn’t have much stuff…decent amount of clothes though) into her new room and then sat back with the satisfaction that the rooms really were done…things were ready…Belane has a room to come home to.
I have to say that hanging up her little clothes in the closet in her freshly painted room was super exciting and rewarding. It was such a little thing, but made it feel very real that she is finally coming home. She has a place. She belongs.
Marcus walks around touching everything saying “Belane’s”. He seems to grasp that she is coming…it will be interesting to see his reaction when she arrives. :)
So, my packing is done, with the exception of a few minor touches on my carryon, my house is clean, Belane’s room is ready and I am feeling very prepared.
I have to say that to all of you who laughed at me when I started packing a few weeks ago (you know who you are!!!) that is was a very good thing...this week is so busy that I am glad I don't have to worry about packing for the trip. So there! :)
And as we speak, my aunt is on her way from the airport! She will be arriving tonight and we’ll have tomorrow and Friday to “retrain” her with the kids (she just did this for us in February when we went to get Ben). She’ll be taking care of Shane, Ben, Maggie, Amanda and Marcus. She is wonderful with them and they adore her, so I know they will do great.
There aren’t many people out there who would be willing to step in and be “me” for a week, and I am so grateful for her love and support.
So, that is the view from 51 hours and 18 minutes until departure. WOO HOO! Now if only I can keep this head attached…. :)
