If you read many blogs, you have probably noticed that many of them do "Love Thursday" posts, where they post a photo showing love each Thursday. I think this is a fun idea, and I know how much most of you enjoy photos, so I am going to jump on the "Love Thursday" bandwagon.
Today I am sharing two pictures of Marcus and Belane. Marcus is two (he will be three at the end of April) and Belane is 3 (she is almost six months older than he is). Marcus was placed with us at birth in a domestic newborn adoption, and Belane came home three months ago from Ethiopia. Marcus is a good five inches taller than Belane, and a good almost 10lbs heavier. (No one believes me when I say that Belane is older!)
I worried how these two would be together. Marcus has been a very spoiled little man (in a good way) thanks to being the youngest in a big family, and from being sick a lot. He did great when we added Benjamin to our family, but Marcus was still "the baby" then.
Lots of "experts" probably would not have recommended us adopting Belane, with her so close in age to Marcus (and some agencies in fact wouldn't have allowed it), and I admit before she came home I worried if Marcus would be nice to her and if they would be close, or if we would have lots of battles for attention, etc. He liked her pictures, and when we talked about her coming home he liked her "in theory", but I knew once she was real and really here in our home, things might be different.
Well, he surprised me! Marcus has been lovey dovey with Belane since day one (even when he was mad at me for being gone). The two of them hug and kiss and play together. Marcus laughs his very best laugh for Belane, and thinks that she is just the funniest person ever, and the two of them are always looking out for each other. If Belane gets a snack, she wants one for Marcus, if she gets in the tub, she wants Marcus in too. They do of course tattle on each other and squabble over toys occasionally, but such is the life of siblings. :)
Even though they will both be three soon, we all call them "the babies". They are so much fun, and even though they are very opposite in a lot of ways, they just click together and make the perfect pair.
They are my babies...I adore them!!
