I decided to do another “Top 10” list. Since I get questioned so much about our choice to have 10 kids, I thought I would share my “Top 10 Reasons why Kids are Great to Have Around” list. (If you can count you will notice that there are 12 things on this list…I just could not keep it to 10, and I have all sorts of other things I could add…)


Kids help you keep your priorities in order…they don’t care about your hair or a clean kitchen or the bills or the weeds in the garden.

Kids forgive quickly

Nothing feels better curled up in your lap than a snuggly toddler, nothing sounds better than children laughing and nothing is sweeter to look at than a sleeping baby.

Kids live in the moment…they don’t waste time worrying about bird flu or mortgage payments.

Kids laugh easily and honestly.

Without kids what excuse would we have for buying Kool-Aid and ice cream sandwiches?

Kids tell you the truth about things. They don’t lie to spare your feelings or tell you what you want to hear.

Kids play hard and sleep hard.

Kids enjoy life, and their enjoyment is contagious. They can have fun whether they are swinging on a swing, building with blocks or throwing rocks in a puddle.

Kids keep you busy and active. It’s hard to be bored around little kids!

Kids keep your imagination fresh.

Kids are hopeful and optimistic and are our promise of a future.
